Spiritual Cinema
Join us for great film, thoughtful conversation, and popcorn, of course.
What is Spiritual Cinema? Films that entertain while they
inspire; touching on deeper themes such as:
We are creating our own reality.
We are connected to each other and to all things.
Our essence is consciousness.
All that we seek lies within ourselves.
The physical world is an illusion and time does not exist.
When
Except when noted, held Second Saturday of each month, with time and location to be announced.
Details and the Spiritual Cinema group sign-up list are at the
information table on Sundays or email Ann
Aubuchon or call (360) 339-2590.
Events
Love and Other Drugs - Saturday, February 11, 6:30 - 9:30 p.m.
In honor of Valentine's Day, enjoy a film hailed as "the smartest and
downright best screen-melting romance of 2011."
Maggie (Anne Hathaway) and Jamie (Jake Gyllenhall) leap into a
no-strings-attached affair, but no matter how hard they try to keep things
"casual" they can't help falling under the influence of the ultimate drug: love.
Even when we try to resist receiving — and don't
feel we are worthy of — love, still it persists,
reinforcing our belief we are each loveable, capable, and worthy.
Two souls — deceased drifter Mike (Timothy
Hutton) and newborn soul Annie (Kelly McGillis) —
cross paths in Heaven and attempt to reconnect once they are reborn on Earth.
When Annie leaves, Mike follows, risking all to find her in her new identity
with neither having memories of their previous celestial existence. As we begin
a new year and reflect on the old, this film challenges us to consider
the agreements we have made for what we will express and experience in this lifetime.
Be sure to watch for appearances by Neil Young, Tom Petty, Ric
Ocasek, and Tom Robbins.

My Dinner with Andre - Saturday, September 10, 6:30 - 9:30 p.m.
The film depicts a conversation between Andre Gregory and Wallace Shawn
(apparently playing themselves) in a chic restaurant in New York City. Based
mostly on conversation, the film's dialog covers such things as experimental
theatre, the nature of theatre, and the nature of life. The dialogue contrasts
Shawn's modest, down-to-earth humanism with Gregory's extravagant spiritual
experiences.
