Welcoming the Light ~ Sunday, December 18
At this time of year, with the winter solstice this week, we are reminded to
awaken out of the trance of our past and into the light within us. Two special
additions to our regular service:
- Burning bowl ritual. As we open to the new
year of light dawning in our community, our world, and reflected in our own
lives, we let go of the past year (decade, century) as we
prepare for the solar return of 2012. We use special
"flash" paper as regular paper would set off the sprinklers.
- Blessing of the prayer shawls. The shawls,
created so lovingly by the Prayer Shawl Ministry, are displayed
near the altar and the congregants gather in blessing the shawls
with love and healing.
Kinship Family Christmas Gift-Giving
The Center for Spiritual Living-Olympia has adopted a Kinship Family through
Family Education and Support Services. Kinship families are typically composed
of grandparents raising grandchildren. Our family is headed by Susan who is
raising her grandchildren, 11-year-old Lee, and five-year-old Emily. Cash donations will help us purchase bigger-ticket items.

service program. Place the form in the prayer box at the back of the sanctuary.
Practitioners will hold that request in their consciousness for the week.
Interested in prayer for yourself or others? Learn about resources at the Prayer Request page.
Compassionate Care Team Requests
There is still a little room for additional volunteers to serve on the
Compassionate Care Team. You need not be a member to request or receive services.
Compassionate care includes visiting someone in the hospital, transportation,
arranging short-term meal service, prayer, and organizing care.
And sometimes, it's
just a friendly word of encouragement, appreciation, condolence, or
congratulations.
If you or someone you know within our community needs
compassionate care, please fill out a lavender
form (available at the information table) and put it in the prayer box. Ann Aubuchon, RScP, coordinator, and her team
