Practitioners and Prayer
Practitioners are here to help. Talk to a practitioner for inspiration, celebration of a major life event, or healing in any area such as financial, relationship, health, or career. You are God's wondrous gift. Let a
practitioner remind you of that.
A practitioner session provides a safe, nurturing environment for you to explore your spiritual practices and current beliefs you want to change. You have the opportunity to co-create “new thought” that allows you to
change your thinking and change your life.
Your Practitioners
The Center for Spiritual Awakening’s practitioners are volunteers in service to our spiritual community, dedicated to pray with you and for you. They support our community through:
- Prayer Support: Before, during and after Sunday
service
- Prayer Blasts: Immediately following the Sunday
service, this quick, one-on-one prayer can help you get through a
specific situation. For more in-depth prayer work, talk with, or
email a practitioner to make an appointment.
- Prayer Request Response: Fill out the prayer
request form (you’ll find one in your printed program) and drop it
in the prayer box located at the information table, or send an email
to prayers@CSLOlympia.org.
- Meditation: Before each Sunday service, a
practitioner leads a guided meditation which is free and open to the
public.

Science of Mind totally changed Barb’s life. And over the years, she has watched
as it has changed lives for so many. A practitioner since 1985, Barb has
concentrated much of her practice on education. Her passion continues to be
teaching others to use this wondrous philosophy to lead joyful and purposeful
lives. She has done this by writing curriculum, teaching classes and workshops,
and with one-on-one client sessions.
She is a grandmother (and about to be a great grandmother). She left Oregon many
years ago, relocating to Southern California when her husband earned his PhD and
was offered a university teaching position. Upon retiring last March, she was
finally able to return to her native soil: the Pacific Northwest.

Susan traveled a deep and winding path to
God, beginning in her childhood living on a
reservation. Her early lessons of seeing
Spirit in nature and the experience of
tribal traditions are still a strong
influence on her today. She has studied
archetypes with Caroline Myss, healing
modalities at the Deepak Chopra Institute,
and is an initiate of Peruvian shamanism.
In Religious Science, Susan found “a
faith that has faith in me.” She provides
spiritual counseling as a practitioner at
the Center and private practice. She loves
teaching Religious Science classes and
writes spiritual articles for a local news
publication.
Susan’s passion is to serve as a divine
channel to aid and empower others in the
clearing of dysfunctional thought patterns,
emotional wounds, traumas, and life
obstructing beliefs. She bridges mind, body,
and spiritual healing modalities as a
counselor and alchemical hypnotherapist in
her private practice.

John has been involved in the
metaphysical field seemingly his whole life
and has studied and taught meditation and
other metaphysical classes since 1973. Being
a Practitioner enhances his own desire to
take the time to recognize his connection
with God/First Cause and to be ‘at cause’ in
his own life and less ‘at effect’ in daily
life, while allowing him to share this same
recognition with others in their own lives.
It is one of the great pleasures of his life
to see people open up to more of who they
truly are.
He subscribed to 'Science of Mind' magazine
for many years and eventually sought out a
Science of Mind church. Taking the
foundations classes whetted his appetite for
the personal-ness of this Spiritual
practice, and he continued classes and
became a certified Religious Science
Practitioner in July 2003. He was received
into CSL-Olympia as a Practitioner February
6, 2011.
John is a Master Mason and Past Master of
his Lodge; active member of the Tacoma
Valley Scottish Rite where he is a 32nd
Degree Mason and Knight Commander Court of
Honor. A retired Firefighter and Navy Master
Chief, he is the Training Officer at Capital
City Rifle and Pistol Club, where he trains
Range Safety Officers and teaches classes

About Practitioners
We know that with God all things are possible. Therefore, whatever the problem,
there is always an answer. When a problem defies our imagination, when we cannot
see what went wrong, when we are willing to be healed of that within us which
brought the situation about, a practitioner can help. A Practitioner uses
his/her own mind to get clear about you and your desire, so that the One Mind
—in which we all live and move and have our being — will work positively in your
life.
What is a practitioner?
An International Centers for Spiritual Living practitioner is a person of high
spiritual consciousness and deep understanding, trained in the study of the
Science of Mind, and in the art, science and skill of affirmative prayer.
Practitioners are dedicated to the cause of helping others, licensed to practice
professionally, and bound by a high code of ethics to respect your privacy.
RScP is the designation for a licensed Professional Center for Spiritual Living
Practitioner ("Religious Science Practitioner") to perform spiritual counseling
and other types of spiritual work after a four-year course of study in the
philosophy, principles, spiritual practices, and skills. The license is granted
by the
United Centers for Spiritual Living.
Practitioners follow a professional code of ethics, take continuing education
classes, and provide service to their spiritual community to retain their
designation as licensed practitioner. Licenses are renewed every two years.

What is affirmative prayer?
The use of affirmative prayer —sometimes referred to as a 'spiritual mind
treatment' or just 'treatment' — in our daily lives gives us the privilege of
choosing the direction of our thoughts, so we are in harmony with a Power
greater than we are, and brings our experience out of the darkness of
limitation. It is a very powerful tool used to change one’s thought, one’s
belief, and one’s experience in a positive way.

Do I need a practitioner?
Ask yourself the following questions:
- Am I too close to my own problem to see the situation clearly?
- Do I feel that something is blocking that which I am seeking?
- Do I feel that I lack the experience with, the training in, or
the understanding of the Science of Mind principles necessary to
resolve the difficulty?
If any of these questions can be answered 'Yes', a practitioner can be very
helpful to you.

Once I decide to seek the services of a practitioner, what do I do next?
When you have decided to seek the services of a practitioner, you can help by
trusting the process:
- Have faith in the Mind of God. It is omnipotent and It does the
work.
- Contemplate your challenge and get clear on what you want to
accomplish in consciousness.
- Release your problem by giving it to your practitioner.
- Be ready to move forward in consciousness and accept a healing.
- Endeavor to keep a positive attitude. Be expectant, accepting
every good thing as part of your demonstration.
- Be thankful. Give thanks for the wonderful change that is taking
place in your life.

Must I be present in order for treatment to work?
No. Affirmative prayers are just as effective if the practitioner is in your
presence, on the telephone, or on the other side of the world. There is only One
Mind: God’s Mind and that Mind is everywhere present.

Can I do Spiritual Mind Treatment for myself?
Yes. The
practitioner will also assist you in the process and correct use of affirmative
prayer. For example, the following simple affirmative prayer alone can raise
your consciousness and your level of acceptance of good in your life:
There is One Universal Life, and I am unified with It. I
declare that within this Divine Life is contained all that I need for a healthy,
happy, prosperous life. I accept this good gladly, turning away from any
appearance to the contrary. In deep gratitude I give thanks – I let go and let
God. And so it is.
Here are a few more
samples of Affirmative Prayer for you to try.

After I receive the services of a practitioner, what can I do to assist in the
manifestation of my good?
- Have faith in the healing power of the One Mind. Remember the
words of Jesus: "The Father that dwells in me, He does the work."
- Release your problem to God. If the problem comes up in your
mind later, dismiss it with a simple affirmation, such as, "Through
prayer all things are possible. God is resolving this situation
NOW."
- Use the affirmative prayer given to you by the practitioner as
many times as necessary every day.
- Keep a positive attitude. Believe and know that God desires your
demonstration just as much as you do.
- Be grateful. Give heartfelt thanks to God for the wonderful
changes that are taking place in your life.

Is there a cost to work with a Practitioner?
Beyond the services they contribute to the Center for Spiritual Awakening
community, practitioners are available for private and confidential sessions on
a fee basis to assist you with challenges in your life.
The work of the practitioner is a professional service. In private practice, a
practitioner — like any other licensed professional — receives a fee for his or
her time, training, and skill in providing a service.
The hourly fee for a licensed practitioner session varies. Please speak with a
practitioner about current rates and appointment schedule.
Treatment work is never withheld because of an inability to pay. Simply explain
to the practitioner, and ask for work in the area of prosperity so you can start
to heal and be in a more stable financial condition.
