Community Spotlight Conversations
At the recent Community Conversation Café, we came
together for an evening of conversation, collaborative dialog, and
shared wisdom to discover what it means for us to BE the Light
and explore what we deeply desire for the Center for Spiritual
Living – Olympia.
Together, our community identified four key initiatives as
areas for expansion:
- Caring for our Member Community
- Youth and Family Ministry
- Marketing and Outreach
- Finding Our Own Place
To develop the possibilities inherent in each area, the Core Council is
sponsoring five focused conversations, called Spotlight Conversations.
Each of these Spotlight Conversations will be held at
NOVA School after Sunday service. These meetings are not intended to be
task-oriented teams — though such teams may form
out of the conversation — but rather, are to expand
our possibilities and explore the potential within us.
Feb. 12 ~ Shared Leadership - Setting the Context
Sanctuary 12:30 to 2 p.m.
Our first conversation will be to set the context for all the other
conversations. It will be an exploration of our main organizational
style Shared Leadership. We will learn about the definitions of Shared
Leadership, basic team dynamics crucial to consensual governance, and the
continuum of decision making. This session will include small group sharing and
a question and answer time.
March 4 ~ Finding Our Own Place
Read the summary of our exploration of the possibilities for finding a place of
our own.
April 1 ~ Caring for our Member Community
In this conversation we will explore the possibilities for welcoming,
growing, retaining and serving our community members.
April 22 ~ Youth and Family Ministries
In this conversation we will explore the possibilities for developing a Youth
and Family ministry that serves the needs of young families.
May 20 ~ Marketing and Outreach
In this conversation we will explore the possibilities for marketing our
Center, and outreach to the larger community of Thurston County.
