February - March 2012 – 'BE the Light'
Sacred Circles

The theme for 2012 is Be the Light: Grow, Serve, Shine, continuing the powerful program we experienced this fall.  Ernest Holmes’ This Thing Called You will be our guide for the Sacred Circles.

February 19 – BE the Light~ This Thing Called You

Introduction to Sacred Circles; no reading this week.

Today, we begin the BE the Light series and affirm that each of us is a beam of light, a fountain of Life with that same God-presence expressing through us. This week’s quote comes from The Forbidden Rumi, translated by Nevit O. Ergin and Will Johnson:

“Don’t go off sightseeing. The real journey is right here. The great excursion starts from exactly where you are. You are the world. You have everything you need. You are the secret. You are wide opened.”

Our late winter Sacred Circles are all about discovering who we are; at essence and in our true nature. Ernest Holmes, the author of our book This Thing Called You reminds us in the most inspirational fashion about the truth of our being – and the majesty of discovering the Supreme Good at the center of it.

February 26 – You Belong to the Universe

This Thing Called You, pp. 1-40

“The greatest adventure of your life lies in your conscious use of the One power. You need not believe in any particular religious system to discover the wellspring of life. You find it at the center of your own being, in the quiet of the evening, in the stillness of the night, at the dawn of a new day, and in the midst of activity.”

March 4 – Faith, Law, and Will

This Thing Called You, pp. 41-62

“Your enthusiastic anticipation and happy contentment water the faith which you have placed in the soil of Divine Substance. Believing this, do not delay the joy of possessing until tomorrow. There are no tomorrows in the Divine Mind. Remember that in back of every event, the slightest effort you make, the smallest concept you entertain, there is an inexhaustible reservoir of life, of imagination, energy and will flowing thought you into action.”

March 11 – Letting Go of the False Self

This Thing Called You, pp. 63-88

“Your union with God implies your union with everything that lives. Do not be afraid of this. Do not shun the thought of it. Divine union means union with everything. This does not mean that you love those who are closest to you any less; you merely love all humanity more.”

March 18 – Ask and Ye Shall Receive

This Thing Called You, pp. 89-108

“There is a truth which can set you free from fear, want, unhappiness and finally death itself. This truth is already within you. Nothing could be more wonderful than this. It is what you have been looking for but hardly dared believe. No matter what the negations of yesterday may have been, your affirmations of today may rise triumphant over them.”

March 25 – Celebrating the Light

This Thing Called You, pg. 108

“Today you are to hold your thought steadfast in the realization that God withholds nothing from you. Therefore prepare yourself for a life of joy, happiness and well-being. Believe in the Divine freedom which is yours by birthright.”

This Sunday we bring to a close our winter BE the Light Sacred Circle series, host the Annual Meeting, and have a potluck celebration.
