Welcome Home!
Welcome to the Center for Spiritual Living in Olympia, Washington. Affiliated
with United Centers for Spiritual Living, we are a non-profit organization
dedicated to providing spiritual tools to transform our personal lives and help
make the world a better place.
We practice an appreciation for diversity in our community, and our teachings
highlight the divinity within each, and indeed in all religions. The Center for
Spiritual Living promotes a way of life that honors all paths to God, and helps
people to discover a personal relationship with God. When God, or the Infinite
Presence, is the focus of our spirituality, other areas of our lives fall into
place – we are happier, we can do more for others, be better stewards of the
Earth, and live our lives to the fullest. When we develop a practice or habit of
living a spiritual life, we become the peace we wish to see in the world.
There are many qualities, practices and behaviors at the Center for Spiritual
Living that are life-affirming. Our values of love, appreciation, abundance,
authenticity and integrity find their way into all that we do and share
together. We offer Sunday services, classes, events, Sacred Circles, private
counseling with our minister or practitioners as well as numerous social
occasions throughout the year.
Welcome to our website. Welcome to the Center for Spiritual Living. Welcome
home!
Letter from Rev. Elizabeth O’Day
If you are visiting our website for the first time or are back for the
thousandth time, welcome!
How to describe for you who we and what our Center is about? We are a relatively
new and growing community in Olympia, and as a result there is lots of
excitement in our meetings, ideas and organizing, social gatherings and events.
We jokingly say that we are disorganized religion and there is an undercurrent
of truth in our laughter. For as a community we value the wisdom that is
revealed in unexpected sources, and most certainly in the diverse voices of our
members. It is more than a stated belief in the Divine Presence within everyone;
it is a practice of honoring it – even in unlikely places.
Here is some of the nitty-gritty about who we are:
The Center for Spiritual Living, Olympia is governed by a set of bylaws and
policies administered by a Council of Trustees. All our activities and events,
as well as every leadership team, is staffed by volunteers. Each team of
volunteers has a representative on the Council – and they are all volunteers
too.
The Council does everything by consensus, not by a majority vote – but by a full
consensus usually preceded by a full discussion. The Council guides the business
of the Center with care, wit, willingness to serve and a deep love for the
spiritual principles of our teachings. Great stewardship through the Council has
resulted in a financial strength that allowed the community to hire a full time
minister last year – and that’s me!
On some of our other pages here you might read about our history as a community,
as a worldwide philosophical movement, and as a religious non-profit
organization. You can also read in more detail about what a Practitioner is, and
read the profiles of the Practitioners at our Center. As our community grows,
undoubtedly this website will grow as well with more information offered on who
we are.
Today is filled with good! Regardless of what happened yesterday or may happen
tomorrow, right now recognize the essential presence of Spirit. It is in the
silence that holds every sound, and in the gap between our thoughts – it is the
background to entire foreground, indeed – Spirit is the ground of life. That
presence fills me with peace, as I allow this moment to be enough, and as I
affirm that everything I need is right here, in this moment.
May you know that presence of Spirit in your life,
Rev. Elizabeth “Libby” O’Day
